The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, participated in the closing of the first day of the Sports Tomorrow Congress (WOM + N) 2021, the sports innovation congress organized by the Barça Innovation Hub and held this week at the club’s facilities.
Laporta He addressed more than a hundred attendees (of the 600 who participated in the first day) in the tent where the networking sessions will take place at the end of each day of the congress, and where this Monday the message of President’s welcome.
In his speech, Laporta put in value the effort made each year, and for five editions, the Barça Innovation Hub to organize this sports innovation congress, which has become a benchmark in the sector. “We are economically nourished only by what we generate through the sports industry itself. We do not have a large corporation behind us, nor shareholders, nor economic contributions beyond those that we are capable of generating, and that forces us to to be imaginative, innovative, courageous and to be one step ahead in many of the issues that surround this sports industry, which is also evolving, “he said.
Laporta He recalled that Barça is a 122-year-old club that belongs to its almost 140,000 members and where decisions are made in a democratic and participatory way. In this context, he added that “we must always be at the forefront and foster a culture of excellence and collaboration, which is what explains why Barça was the first club to promote initiatives such as Sports Tomorrow Congress. Only in this way will we be able to help generate new knowledge and create innovative products and services that can benefit athletes, partners, fans and society in general. “He also highlighted the importance of giving back to society for FC Barcelona “everything that this one has given to the club”.
