Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp was unable to explain why his team suffered a 4-1 loss to Napoli that was one of the worst in his side’s Champions League history, saying he needs time to come to terms with it.
“It is very difficult to accept this. If you have seen the game it is easy to see that they started with two penalties in favor and that Napoli played a great game and we didn’t. That is the first explanation for the defeat,” the German told the BT Sport channel.
“Everything is very obvious, but why has it happened? I can’t answer you now. Let me think about it and I’ll tell you. Right now it is very difficult to accept this.”
“They scored a penalty against us and missed another, but the next two goals were served to them on a plate. We should have defended better. At 3-0 we had chances, but we were never in the game. Until Thiago entered the field, I don’t remember a single pressure well done,” Klopp said.
